Description

Siberian Husky - Extra Large - Adult - Male - Dog - Evan
Description
Evan is a 3-4 year husky, or considering his size, probably malamute/husky mix. He was found wandering in Nashville, TN, with his friend Emerson, an Irish Wolfhound mix. Both were in overall good condition and had obviously been someone's pets. Sadly, we have never found their owners and they need a home. Evan weighs about 80 pounds and is in excellent health aside from some minor damage to the tips of his ears, most likely from being eaten by flies. He is excellent with other dogs and he is even OK with cats which was a surprise. He is very people oriented as well. This dog must have other dogs in his new home as he needs to companionship. He does need a securely fenced yard as he is not ever to be trusted off leash. He has good manners and has obviously been in the home before. His bad habits are 2: bolting (typical for the breed) and countersurfing for unsupervised sandwiches and such. Otherwise, he is a wonderful dog and will make a great family pet. Have a flexible schedule to allow for potty training. Puppies can only hold it for one hour per month of age. 2. Crate Train the puppy. It keeps the puppy safe and your furniture free from puppy attack. It is not cruelty, it's safety for the dog.3. Supervise this dog with children. Children and puppies are uninhibited which can be dangerous for both puppy and child. Supervise them!4. Provide Obedience Training. Well mannered puppies are made, not born. You have an obligation to make your puppy a well adjusted dog citizen.5. Socialize your dog. It is critical to keep your dog or puppy well socialized. Expose your puppy to people, new situations, other animals. This helps them adjust to everyday life.6. Understand that you get what you put into the relationship. If you want to have a good dog, you must do your part. Training, time and affection are required. Patience as well. No dog is perfect, and neither are you. You need to be prepared to be patient when they make mistakes. 7. Understand that puppy hood can last for 2 years or more. They will eventually calm down, but they are youngsters. Keep that in mind when deciding on whether you can adopt a young dog or would be better off with a more sedate adult dog. Do not adopt a puppy if you do not have the time.
