He is thought to be around 5 yrs old. Leo is very sweet, but shy. When he is adopted he will need help to continue with the progress he has made while in foster care. Leo came to Crested Guardians after his previous owner turned him into a shelter. He came into our care a timid and shy boy and while he can still be nervous in new situations he has made leaps and bounds! He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and has even begun to attend doggie daycare where he likes to play with other dogs. He is getting comfortable enough to let people approach him to pet him in daycare and when his foster mom takes him out. He is a little boy-just about 7 lbs. but he has been known to cause adorable mischief with his girlfriend-the vets 50 lb. Lab mix. He is quite the Casanova and has many dog friends at daycare-possibly other girlfriends, but he is not telling! He LOVES snuggling with his foster siblings and that is usually where you will find him if not on your lap. He loves to take toys and hide them in his bed-he even took a straw from a drink one time! Leo has an amusing lopsided grin that only adds to his entertaining nature. Leo would love nothing more than a quiet home that will always give him a lap to lie in, comfy places to sleep and gentle guidance to help him keep coming out of his shell. He would do well best in a home with other dogs (large or small) or cats. Leo had a mast cell tumor (a type of skin cancer) removed before arriving at Crested Guardians. There is a chance that he could have a recurrence of this type of cancer however he will be unable to under go treatment for the cancer due to a heart condition and elevated kidney values. Leo eats a prescription food to help his kidneys, and both his kidneys and heart are monitored by the vet as needed and are currently stable. He could potentially live happily for a few years. He is looking for a home that would love him in spite of his health problems.
