American Bulldog - Large - Young - Male - Dog - Sparky
Description
Sparky is a sweet, strikingly handsome 18 month old, 75 lb neutered male American Bulldog/pitbull Terrier mix. He was abandonned at the local animal control facility when his owners were evicted from their home. The lack of early socialization and leadership in his early months were reflected by his nervousness being leashed and aprehension around men. He warmed up VERY quickly to the ladies and won their hearts with his love of affection of of ball retreieving. We are still trying to convince him that he is not a retriever!! Because of his love of people but need for social skills, he was sent to Shawn Masterson at Alpha One K9 Oasis in Middleboro, Ma where he has spent the last 2 months with this calm, patient man learning his basic commands and social skills with other dogs. His ideal playmates are quieter females and younger dogs. He is quite enthusiatic about his ball and will challenge another dog that wants to play keep away. He is a strong, powerful, energetic dog so older children at least in the middle school range would be the best match for him. He is well behaved and loves to ride in the car and will be great company on hikes and trails. His owners should be patient poeple with good working breed knowledge since the bully breeds are so often exploited by greedy people looking to steal dogs for inhumane reasons. Sparky will need to continue his training, preferably with Shawn or another trainer using positive reinforcement techniques. He is unknown with cats so a home where he can be the center of attention is ideal.
